Structuring your Business and Keeping Corporate Records
There are many ways in which a business may be structured, and different jurisdictions a business can be registered in. For example, you may be considering doing business as a sole proprietorship, a partnership or limited partnership, a corporation or professional corporation, a non-profit organization, or in a joint venture. Each type of entity has advantages and disadvantages, and you should consider these with your lawyer as you plan your future commercial activities. You also need to consider whether you are going to be doing business in one or more provinces, in all or Canada, or internationally. We invite you to talk to one of our corporate lawyers to determine which structure and jurisdiction may best suit you, and to assist you to incorporate or otherwise set up that structure. In addition, Johnston Ming Manning LLP has an organized, efficient corporate records department that provides service to our corporate clients to keep their corporate records current and accurate from year to year.
